Leading the price table was the supreme champion from the pre-sale judging, an aged ram shown by DG & MH Jones of Llangammarch Wells, Powys. Their 2 shear ram was champion at the 2008 and 2009 Royal Welsh Show, and caught the eye of GA & HM Francis of Carmarthen to join their Pistyll flock for 1,500gns.
The next leading price was 1,200gns for a shearling gimmer consigned by David Alexander of Galston, Ayrshire. A daughter of the imported ram, Craigalbert, this was a substitute entry to the catalogue and was reserve supreme champion at the pre-sale judging. She was half sister to the top priced ram at the recent NSA ram sales, and was knocked down to Dan and Janine Jones of Newtown, Powys for their Jonsland flock.
Selling for 900gns was a shearling ram exhibited by David Alexanader of the Millside flock. This March born homebred ram, a son of the ram Jonsland, was sold to local enthusiasts Messrs Paterson of Caldbeck, Wigton. The Millside flock also secured the second leading price in the female section 850gns for a March born Craigalbert sired daughter. She was knocked down to north of Scotland breeders J Campbell & Co of Caithness. Averages – 7 aged & shearling rams £697.50, 3 lamb rams £378.00, 5 shearling gimmers £829.50, 1 ewe lamb £630.00.
